Rustic DIY Farm Wedding

We couldn't have asked for a better day, the weather cooled down right when guests started to arrive, everything was planned out perfectly, we had amazing help from our family and friends.... it was just perfect.  The highlight of my day, marrying my best friend.  That just sounds so cliche but it really sums everything up.  Here are some of the photo's from our amazing day...

August 16th 

The easiest thing to do, find some old wood and write on it with chalk, so cute and simple and super quick!  We have a TON of old berry crates (that are legitimately old and they look it) so we just ripped some apart and used the good pieces.

Opening Weekend!!!

Unger's Farm Store is officially open for the season!!! I couldn't be more excited and anxious about this! Excited because it's just so much fun and I love our return customers like crazy, and anxious because I can't wait to meet all the new faces that will discover our Farm Store. Many of us have put in so much work and effort to make this place run smooth, look beautiful, and be the place that people just can't wait to come back to, so to see the 'fruits of our labor' (haha true on many points when it comes to us) through our customers' excitement is just the best thing we could ask for.


Thankfully the rain held off on Saturday and it was a wonderfully successful day. Of course every opening day comes with a few hiccups but we all worked together to figure out how to conquer those hiccups!!!  We had the fortunate luck, thank you Mother Nature, of featuring Albion Strawberries over the weekend!  That was a wonderful surprise and I think it added to the success of the weekend.

A new addition to the kids play area this year is Tetherball! It was so sweet to see families out there playing and teaching their young ones a game that has a special place in a lot of our memories.  I am still a young one myself but I do remember playing Tetherball often in Elementary School.  If you feel you need a little activity in your weekend, this is the place to go!

We have a handful of new team members working at the Farm Store this year so you'll have to familiarize yourself with them. They are awesome. :)  It is going to be a wonderful season!!!!

We'll have HOOD STRAWBERRIES this coming weekend... now the fun is really going to start!  U-Pick is also open for Hood Strawberries as well as the Albion Strawberries.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pie

These No Bake Chocolate Covered Strawberry Mini Pies are a perfect and easy dessert to make! It only takes a bit to prepare and they only need to sit for a few hours.  I found that they do taste so much better the next day (it often gets gobbled up as a breakfast) as the crust flavors have time to blend together.

I have a huge sweet tooth and I always crave ice cream... I mean, ALWAYS! It could be 10 below freezing out and I'd still want ice cream. So, to curb my cravings (and apparently my addiction), I eat a lot of this.  It's so fast, easy, delicious and you can make enough whipped cream to last you throughout the week!

Blueberry Chia Breakfast Cookies

This is one of my all time favorite cookie recipes.  I often do a chocolate chip coconut cookie but I have been craving blueberries recently. I must be anxious for summer and fresh berries from the farm....  I found my original recipe from The Burlap Bag and their 2 Ingredient Cookie. These have fed me many times on those rushed mornings when I might otherwise forget breakfast... I just can't say enough good things about them and the possibilities are endless with how you can personalize them!

Local Love: Tri-County Farms

This is a little more broad for the Local Love Thursday I will be doing but it is an incredibly important organization to talk about and I feel this is perfect for the first post of many highlighting my favorite places in Oregon.

Tri-County Farms is a Non-Profit Organization that puts out a guide of farms in the Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington Counties that have u-pick or that sell directly from their farm.  If you haven't yet utilized this guide you should check it out HERE.

What is a CSA?

Each year we add something new, or multiple new things.  Whether it be a new process to make things smoother for our customers, a new variety of berry, a new event, new displays at the farmers markets, we are always growing and adding.  This year we're adding a Vegetable CSA and we couldn't be more excited about it! 

And the winner is....

We couldn't help it!!! We had to choose two! 

We had so many wonderful ideas submitted and after the 4 judge panel we have decided to go with two wonderful ideas.  One of the ideas was submitted a few different times so we threw those names in a hat and drew the winner.

A Tribute... to the Tan Van

The Farmers' Market Season is officially over for Unger Farms.  And I am so terribly sad to announce that life on the farm for the Tan Van is also over.  

Look at this beauty....

Wall's are carpeted, AM radio only, limited power steering at best, and that color, ooooh that color!    This beauty has been on the farm for a good 15+ years.
